The floorcovering industry runs in Michael Bonacci’s veins. His father is president and co-owner of INSTALL Warranty Contractor Tri State Flooring, a full-service contractor located in the Pittsburgh area. After completing his degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Bonacci joined his dad’s company as an installer in 2006. After five years he transitioned into a project management and estimator role, which he still does today.
“I first got to know INSTALL during my apprenticeship,” said Bonacci. “I quickly realized how important it was to have ongoing training. As a young installer I took valuable lessons from the older generation who prioritized training and doing the job right over cutting costs and saving time.”
Bonacci’s involvement with INSTALL has impacted his career in a number of ways. “Having trained and certified installers on the worksite makes my job easier,” he said. “I know the job is going to be done right, there won’t be any shortcuts taken, and callbacks will be rare. This is all because of the training my team receives.”
He is also thrilled to see INSTALL innovate and update its curriculum as the industry changes. “They are always improving training and creating new certifications like substrate and surface prep. Plus, they are a great group of people who are easy to work with.”
For Bonacci, INSTALL also adds value to his company and the promise behind the name helps them win jobs. “INSTALL helps our business succeed, and I am proud to be a part of it.”
