Background
South Jersey Technology Partnership (SJTP) is a Shared Services organization with a goal of providing services such as construction to progressive school districts and local municipalities at affordable rates through the use of shared services. As construction is a major area of public spending, SJTP works to provide the highest quality construction services at a lower cost. All school districts in the state of New Jersey can participate in this co-op program.
The Opportunity
INSTALL Warranty Contractor Heritage Flooring of West Berlin, NJ, had been providing work for SJTP for four years and had a superior service record. Chief Operating Officer Vincenzo Buttari recognized the opportunity to leverage this relationship with his status as an INSTALL Warranty Contractor. He then worked to get SJTP to adopt INSTALL Warranty Contractor standards for all of the floorcovering work awarded by SJTP for many of the South Jersey school districts.
As Buttari explained to them, “I’ve been working with you for four years and you’ve never had a call back. The reason why is because you’re using quality guys that are all INSTALL certified. Write into the bid that you will only work with INSTALL contractors and you’ll have peace of mind that you will keep getting these quality installations.”
The Results
SJTP took Buttari’s advice and wrote its 2015 floorcovering specification to only include bids from INSTALL Warranty Contractors. Since winning this bid, Heritage Flooring has completed work at a local YMCA owned by the Sterling School District, K-12 schools in Clayton, Moorestown, Bellmawr and Camden and Salem Community College.
