INSTALL Announces Winner of INSTALL Certified Installation Manager (CIM) Scholarship 2015

INSTALL is proud to announce Mike Pinkstaff, Installation Manager, American Floors & Interiors, as the winner of the INSTALL Certified Installation Manager (CIM) Scholarship. This educational opportunity was developed to support one exceptional installation manager to further their education with the financial support of INSTALL. The winner’s tuition to enroll in and successfully complete the CIM Program will be paid by INSTALL.

“We were very pleased with the INSTALL Contractors’ response to the CIM Scholarship. It speaks to not only the high caliber of INSTALL Contractors, but also their dedication to build upon their current skill set with the vital knowledge contained within the CIM Program,” said Kelly Fuller, Director of Education, FCICA.

Criteria to enroll and judging criteria for the scholarship program included:

  • Employer is an INSTALL contractor. The judges awarded points successively for membership status of applicant, for each certification held by the applicant and for graduating from an INSTALL apprenticeship; plus IWC status of the employer and FCICA membership.
  • Reason for requesting the training

Judges for this scholarship program included Fuller as well as John McGrath, Executive Director of INSTALL and Tom Lutz, Marketing Director of the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters & Director of INSTALL Michigan.

“Mike stood out because he is an INSTALL apprenticeship graduate and his wide range of certifications including INSTALL carpet and resilient and the Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) and blood borne pathogens certifications,” said Lutz. “We plan to make this scholarship program an annual application to reach even more qualified candidates.”

McGrath added that Pinkstaff’s range of certifications and completion of the INSTALL apprenticeship program showed “he understands and believes in legitimate and career-long training. Mike was the ideal candidate for the inaugural year of this scholarship.”
