INSTALL Announces Grand Opening of New Texas Training Center

Texas Carpenters and Millwrights Training Center will serve nearly 500 regional apprentices

What do you get when you mix state-of-the-art industrial carpentry and millwright training with the education, professionalism and floorcovering industry leadership that can only come from INSTALL? The new Texas Carpenters and Millwrights Training Center.

The Pasadena, TX-based center provides one of the top carpenter and millwright apprenticeship and journeyman training programs in the nation. From safety and technical skills to communication and leadership skills, instructors train professional carpenters and millwrights to be productive, safe and demonstrate leadership on the job site.

Growing Demand for Training and Certification

Due to significant growth in the Houston metropolitan region, the training center recently moved to the new 52,000 square-foot facility in the nearby suburb of Pasadena. With six full-time instructors, eight classrooms and significantly more space for hands-on learning opportunities, the center will be home to 485 apprentices.

The training available includes curriculum from INSTALL, the International Standards and Training Alliance. As the floorcovering industry’s most endorsed and specified training program, the organization leverages long standing manufacturer partnerships to bring together in-depth product expertise.

As Craig Wright, chief of staff for the Central South Carpenters Regional Council notes, “With the opening of this state-of-the art training center, the CSCRC intends to provide the flooring industry throughout the gulf coast region with skilled, qualified, floorcovering professionals. This venture will only be possible through collaborative partnerships with INSTALL contractors.”

A Long-term Commitment to Texas and Other Southern Markets

Southern expansion has been a key initiative for INSTALL for several years. As the organization continues to increase its presence in key markets across the country, it will maintain its focus on council-to-council and contractor support.

This relationship provides contractors with the opportunity to enter viable construction markets and establish new offices, allowing for additional revenue streams. It is also an opportunity to bring additional training and certification to the Southern labor pool.

“With major growth in cities like San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Houston, our commitment to the Texas market means that contractors will have better access to training and certification,” said John McGrath, executive director of INSTALL. “Together we can help create the next generation of expert installers that will drive the industry forward.”
