From the Ground Up: Flooring Considerations for the Retrofit Market

Because commercial retrofitting is on the rise, understanding how flooring installation plays into the overall health of a building is becoming increasingly important. Join John T. McGrath Jr., executive director of INSTALL, in a one credit AIA-approved webinar that will explore the main considerations of flooring installations in retrofit projects. From proper specification, to understanding the critical role of substrate preparation, to ensuring the overall success of a flooring installation, register and tune in on January 24, 2017 from 1-2pm.

The course, From the Ground Up: Flooring Considerations for the Retrofit Market, aims to educate architects, designers, facility managers and owners on how working with trained and qualified installers eliminates flooring failure, increases longevity and reduces the risk of costly flooring replacement.

As the U.S. architecture market is now reporting an almost full recovery from the Great Recession, a prominent reason behind the recovery is the advance of the retrofit market. The U.S. Department of Energy reports that of the 5.5 million non-residential buildings in the US, 80% are more than 20 years old. Currently, retrofit spending exceeds new construction spending by 30%.

Hosted through BUILDINGS Magazine, a leading facility management and commercial building resource, the webinar presentation will then be available after January 24 through its education center for one year.
